Citizen Science - Individuals Making a Difference for our Coral Reefs

Coral Restoration Foundation, located in Key Largo, Florida is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to the restoration of coral reefs. Established in 2007, CRF is dedicated to developing and implementing effective strategies to protect and restore our coral reefs. CRF seeks to educate others on the importance of our oceans and utilizes science to inform their monitoring and restoration efforts. Over the next three years, CRF will outplant over 50,000 corals of two threatened species, staghorn & elkhorn, on eight reefs across the Florida Reef Tract in a manner that meets the criteria set forth in NOAA's Acropora Recovery Plan. Our organization's restoration efforts have had a positive impact on reefs in the Florida Keys. We are now taking our work to a scale that will represent the largest restoration effort accomplished to date by any local organization. In addition to being a very impressive restoration effort, our project will result in the creation of a unique large-scale data set that researchers can use for years to come to better understand coral survivorship. CRF's Citizen Science Program enables volunteers to have an immersive, educational experience, while contributing directly to our restoration and data collection efforts. Everyday individuals making a difference.
